Process
• Parents submit an application for each child for Nursery through Grade Seven. Apply online or download and print an application.
• Buckley requests student records and a school recommendation.
• The Admissions Office schedules a parent interview, prospective student testing, and a classroom visit.
• The Admission Committee reviews each application and notifies parents of the decision.

Transportation
Local school districts in Nassau County within a 15-mile radius provide transportation to Buckley Country Day School if a child is at least five years old. Some districts also require that a child be in Kindergarten. Parents must apply to the transportation office of their own district by April 1st for the following school year. Please check with your district for specific guidelines. For children from neighboring Queens communities, Buckley assists families by arranging private transportation where available.

Financial Aid
Buckley offers financial aid based on demonstrated need. Requests for assistance do not affect admissions decisions or a current student’s place in the school community. All financial information is held in the strictest confidence.

Why an Independent School
The National Center for Education Statistics, with funding from the U.S. Department of Education, conducted the National Education Longitudinal Study (NELS) to measure the lifelong returns of an independent school education. NELS traced the life experiences of students who were eighth graders in 1988 into the 21st century. See the results in a pdf of
"Values Added: The Lifelong Returns of an Independent School Education."

Why Buckley
Buckley prides itself on educating and nurturing the whole child, providing a superior education to a diverse and intellectually capable student body. Our faculty creates an environment where students are held to the highest standards of effort, achievement, character, and leadership.
