Spring Gala

The 2010 Spring Gala was a huge success, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your generous support. The event raised $76,000 that will be used to fund professional development opportunities for the Buckley faculty.

To everyone’s delight, our auditorium was elegantly transformed into a 1940’s supper club. Thank you to Gloria Hay (Sydney ‘14) who produced a beautiful keepsake journal, and my sincere gratitude to all the families who underwrote the event and made the evening so festive and special for the Buckley faculty, parents, and alumni. We all enjoyed being back home.

The Buckley community is truly indebted to the evening’s Co-Chairs, Board Member Linda Powers, mother of John ‘01, Kaitlin ‘02, and Christopher ‘09, and Lesley Stackler, mother of Walter '14 and William ‘15 for the Herculean effort they put into planning every detail of this spectacular event. It will be an evening long remembered!

In the past, the Spring Gala has also been an opportunity to recognize families and individuals whose outstanding contributions to Buckley had a profound impact on our school. The Hagedorn, Muran, and Cronin families have been recognized, and last year was faculty legend Mrs. Barbara McCloskey’s turn. This year, we recognized and celebrated the work of the faculty. What better way to show our support for the faculty than to increase funding for their professional development? Offering the faculty professional growth opportunities is not only a way to thank them for their dedication and hard work, it is also a high-return investment in our children’s education. Professional development is known to have a direct and profound impact on student learning and success in school.
